Q. What is mystery shopping? A. Mystery shopping is a service provided to companies to better see their business through the eyes of the consumer. We visit their businesses and evaluate the customer service we are provided by their employees.

Q. How do I become a mystery shopper? A. To shop for ConsumerEye you must first register with the company. Login to: https://consumereye.clientsmart.com. Once your application is approved, you will be able to view the job board for available assignments. You may then request the shop for assignment.

Q. What skills are required for becoming a mystery shopper? A. Excellent writing skills are required in order to explain in a clear concise manner so that others can understand, what occurred during your shopping experience. WE are not looking for your “opinion” simply the facts of experience.
You must be detailed oriented. In some instances, you may be required to submit names and descriptions, comment on clothing, cleanliness of merchandise out of stock, etc. You will not be able to write down these details immediately, so you will have to commit them to memory.
You must be able to meet deadlines. Our clients rely on their reports within a certain amount of time. You should be dependable enough to meet not only the deadline of conducting the shop but also submit the shop the same day the shop is completed.

Q. Is mystery shopping a full time job? A. Most mystery shoppers are part-timers and only shop occasionally. Chances are you will not be able to generate a comfortable salary doing mystery shopping full-time.

Q.How will I receive payment for my shops? A. Payments are made by ConsumerEye through PayPal or by check. You must have a PayPal account in order to receive a payment. To open a free PayPal account, visit the PayPal site. If you do not specify PayPal when you register, you will automatically be paid by check.

Q. How much will I be paid? A. Payment depends on the type of shop that you complete (length of the shop, if there are purchases etc.) If the shop requires you to make a purchase, you will usually be reimbursed up to the total maximum reimbursement amount. For example, you select a restaurant that has a maximum reimbursement of $15.00 but the amount you spent was $20.00, you will only be reimbursed for $15.00. Some shops include a fee or are paid with a fee only.

Q. Will I be considered an employee of ConsumerEye? A. No, a mystery shopper is hired as an independent contractor not as an employee of the mystery shopping company.
